The mastermind of the recent killing of three BJP workers in Kulgam and the most wanted Hizbul Mujahideen chief, Dr. Saifullah Mir, was gunned down in an encounter by the security forces on Sunday.

This is a great success for the security forces. After Riaz Naiku was killed in the month of May this year, Saifullah has taken over the command as Hizb chief. 

As per information, the security forces were reported to have the presence of militants near the old airfield of Rangreth on the outskirts of Srinagar. On this information, the army, CRPF, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. 

He was given an opportunity to surrender, but he refused and fired indiscriminately upon the forces, to which the security forces backfired.

In a short while, the firing stopped from the other side. The body of a terrorist was recovered during the search operation. It has been identified as Dr. Saifullah Mir alias Ghazi Haider alias Dr. Saheb, the operational commander of Hizbul.
