Is Indo-China LAC faceoff coming to an end?
Tuesday , On LAC India-China issued a joint statement in which both the sides agreed to an idea of not sending more troops to the frontline. The army personnels were continuously having Commander talks over the issue, whereas the sixth commander talk session held yesterday continued for 14 hours. More talks are expected to resolve the issue and end the standoff. Talks were quite positive despite the lack of apparent results. The talks were held in line with the five point plan agreed between the two foreign ministers in Moscow early this month. However, the statement is a relief to the increased tensions.
Chinese scholars have maintained that India has been “nibbling Chinese territory” all along. China has been portrayed as a victim, the one exercising restraint, and never crossing the LAC. Conversely, India has been blamed for so-called “assertiveness” and “frequent cross-border provocations.” China can flip faces anytime amid LAC standoff and the tensions can rise again.
