Lavya Bags First Position in Bilingual Debate Expressing her views with panache, Lavya Bhasin from Pinegrove School Solan took the best speaker award in the 4th edition of the Mohinder Memorial Bilingual Turncoat Debate which was held at Pinegrove School, Dharampur. Sixteen teams from across India participated in the event to test and hone their intellectual, debating and oratory skills. The event was judged by a team of learned academicians. The judges for Hindi language were Dr. Mukesh Sharma and Mr. Hemank Kapil, and for English language were Dr. Harsh Vardhan Singh Khimta and Group Captain Sudhir Diwan. The topic for the finals was ‘Abrogation of Section 370 was right’. The representatives of various schools spoke vehemently on the issue and came up with their perspective regarding the same. They cited reasons and supported them with suitable examples from real life, to justify their stand. The speakers formally presented their arguments in a disciplined manner through logical consistency, factual accuracy and some degree of emotional appeal. The overall winner of the competition was Army Public School, Dagshai whereas the runners-up team was from The Scindia School, Gwalior. The second position was bagged by Shaurya Veer Singh of SelaQui International School, Dehradun while the third best speaker was taken by Shreya Singla of Yadavindra Public School, Mohali.
