High level Group of Ministers reviews current status of COVID-19 in the country
On Thursday a meeting of The Group of Minister for COVID-19 was held. The agenda was to review the actions taken and preparedness of States/UT's for containment and management of coronavirus. The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan chaired the high level review meeting.
The status of COVID-19 was presented to the group of ministers. The actions taken for prevention and management of COVID-19 in India were presented. The group of ministers discuss elaborately on the various measures and precautions which may be considered in the interest of citizens of India.
According to the latest updates by the Health Ministry the total number of cases in India rose to 5734 on Thursday morning, with 166 reported deaths. Reports show it to be a slower increase compared to previous 48 hours. Cases in India rose 23 percent in last two days to 5274 whereas it was 39 percent to 4281 previously.
So far, Maharashtra Tamil Nadu and Telangana have seen the highest increase in COVID-19 cases. Maharashtra has the highest number of cases at 875, while Tamilnadu has second most highest number of active cases at 664. It is closely followed by Delhi with 546 cases. Telangana has 385 cases, while Uttar Pradesh on the fifth place has 314 active cases. These top five states together account for a total 59 % of active cases nationally.
Himachal Pradesh recorded one positive case of coronavirus in last 24 hours. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in state rose to 28. While the total number active cases in the hill state is at 21.
