With 94,372 new coronavirus cases, India's tally crosses 47 Lakh Mark
India has continued to witness a spike of over 90,000 cases per day for the past few days. On Sunday India recorded a total of 94,372 cases, pushing the country's tally to over 47 Lakh. The total number of coronavirus cases has mounted to 47,54,357, while the death toll climbed to 78,586 with 1,114 people succumbing to the infection in a span of 24 hours.
Maharashtra, the worst-affected state in the country has crossed the 10 lakh COVID-19 cases mark from what was just under 8 lakh.
India's tally also surged past that of Brazil to become the second worst-affected country, behind the United States.
However, India’s recovery rate is steadily improving and is at 77.9 percent. The case fatality rate also remains well below 2 percent, significantly lower than some of the other major countries with a similarly high caseload.
