Make efforts to improve the quality of research publications: Dr Kaushal
Sincere efforts will be made to utilize modern aids of teaching and learning and make education more career-oriented so that the students become more employable. These were the views expressed by Dr Parvinder Kaushal, Vice Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni during an interaction with the university students. Dr Kaushal urged the students to improve the quality of their research publications and advised them to work on writing quality publications in top journals during their postgraduate studies. He said that these publications will not only help them in their career but also act as a morale booster for conducting bigger and better research.
Assuring the students of developing a proper mechanism to look into the areas of improvement by incorporating suggestions, Dr Kaushal said that the university would look towards imparting more career-oriented education so that they can benefit from these at the time of applying for jobs. He said linking students’ research problems with research projects so that they get a chance to gain valuable work experience during their studies, will also be looked into. Dr Kaushal added that opportunities to visit the best laboratories in the country in the concerned field will also be provided to the students so that they can see the working of the best institutions in the country and incorporate it in their own working.
During the interaction, the students shared their grievances and gave suggestions on improving the overall learning environment. Smart classrooms and interactive boards, focus on improving classroom teaching, and strengthening the internet facilities, library timings were other areas that were discussed.
