Right from planning to execution, women are everywhere
Women are involved at every stage of Solan - Kaithlighat four lane construction
Women Empowerment is always top priority for Arief Engineers : Mallick
Women Engineers are contributing a significant role in four-lane construction work of the 22.91 kilometre stretch of the National Highway from Solan to Kaithlighat. This work was awarded to Arief Engineers in 598 crores, and it was initiated on November 9, 2018 by the company. In last nine months company has delivered quite satisfactory inspite so many hurdles.
The General Manager of Arief Engineers, Amit Mallick is taking care of this project, but the contribution of women is no less. "Our women engineers are involved at every level of construction work in this jumbo project," says Mallick. He further added, “ not only civil engineers but in other departments also, women are playing a vast role.”
Five women are deployed in key positions at Kandaghat Site
The project office of Arief Engineers is located at Kandaghat. Presently, Arief Engineers has deployed five women in key positions at site office, including three core civil engineers. All these women are from different parts of the country, and they are exception to the myth that women are rare in civil engineering field. It is not at all easy for any civil engineer to work in mountains, but these women are delivering surfeit expectations.
Rajendra, Kalpana Gupta and Jyoti Bhatia are the civil engineers who are breaking the barriers and making their contribution at every step of construction, right from planning to the on site execution. Whereas, Disha Sharma is taking care of human resource management and Ekta Sharma is responsible for accounts.
Women has significant role to play at every site of Arief Engineers
Despite the increased interest in civil engineering among women, there are still a number of challenges that are contributing to the continued gender inequality. One barrier that is often pointed to is the lack of female role models in the field. Because the number of women in the field is low, there are also few female leaders in civil engineering, which can make it difficult for new generations of female engineers to find mentors whom they feel they can relate to. But Arief Engineers is providing the right atmoshphere to young women engineers, so they may learn, grow and contribute the optimum in nation building. General Manager Amit Mallick said “ Kandaghat site is not the exception, at every site of Arief Engineers the role of women is no less."
